Two men. Inseparable. Bound by a bond deep in their veins, and a love, stronger than lovers’.
War brings out the worst in people. War brings out the best.
Defending freedom and country brought them together. Surviving enemy camps forged them together.
Both loners from broken families. Both given up on relationships or any friendship. One from the Rockies, one from the Plains.
When war took away the little they ‘thought’ they had and camps emptied them of what they ‘didn’t know’ they have, they became for each other what each ‘needed’ to have.
In an inhospitable land with an incomprehensible tongue…
In the depth of deprivation, where light of faith or hope doesn’t reach…
the company of a fellow brother…
is Church and Bible combined.
And the love for and trust in a fellow brother…
is regained faith…
in life…
and love.
War ended.
One returned to the Plains and the other, to the Rockies. But the deep bond and love between them, lasted forever.
