My first time at the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica, CA. I challenged Brandon, the bartender (seen here), to make me a mixology drink, STRICTLY off the menu, that would take me on a sensory journey. He definitely rose to the occasion and made me two different drinks. One was amazing. I know I’m late to the mixology party, but I’m liking it.
When I asked him what went in them, he passionately rattled off the list of exotic ingredients. I would need a smart-app translator to understand all that he said.
He also made delicious and unique virgin drinks for a few friends and those were good as well.
To me, whether the person is a bartender, barista, chef or …, when they’re skilled enough and then let go of formal structure and/or inhibition and just follow their heart, they truly create art.
